Fall is around the corner, which has us turning to Fall 2012 RTW Collections for inspiration. There’s really no clearer time to see that fashion is truly art. Unfortunately, a girl can’t always wear art. So we’ve picked some of our favorite looks from the runway that we would actually wear, and think you would too!
Cushnie Et Ochs – Sexy Cut Outs
Cushnie Et Och’s collection was largely monochromatic (nudes, greys, and blacks) with a pop of blue and turquoise. The focus was more on the form of the clothes rather than their color. Style.com described that it seemed that the designer “pair had traded scissors for scalpels this time around.” And we like it! More demure structures like the two dresses above would work as a day-to-night ensemble whereas the more bold two below would be great for a night out.
Dianne von Furstenberg – Pops of Color
DVF is a gal who loves her prints. In her Fall 2012 RTW collection though she presented us with something a little less in your face, and much more accessible: little pops of red! A red belt, or a cherry red top under a blazer are perfect anecdote for cold weather blues. So as the crisp temperatures tempt you to turn to your all black ensembles, spice it up with a little bit of color a la Ms. Fursternberg.
Marc Jacobs – Chunky Scarves
Marc Jacobs’ runway show had a lot of over the top elements, most of which we’d probably never have the guts to wear. One trend that we found immediately wearable and useful – oversized chunky scarves of vary colors and patterns. If it’s cold enough to wear a scarf out, why not make a statement?
Prabal Gurung – Girl on Fire Gold
Jennifer Lawrence rocked the Prabal Gurung finale dress on her promo tour for Hunger Games earlier this year in LA. His Fall RTW collection featured more of that shimmery gold that looked so awesome! While most of us may not have the occasion to wear head-to-toe metallics, a short gold dress is definitely wearable on a Saturday night. And a little bit of shimmer peeking out from a luxurious coat? Subdued enough to be day friendly.
Ralph Lauren – Downtown Abbey’s Winter Wardrobe
Traditional tartans and winter prints mixed with argyle and houndstooth at Ralph Lauren’s Fall RTW show. Can’t you totally see Lady Mary layering up like this on a hunting trip? Take a cue from RL and let all that Downtown Abbey watching to good use — mix and match heavy fabrics for a fun, yet warm, fall or winter look.
What do you think of our favorite trends? Will you be rocking them when the weather gets cold? Any ones we missed?
